I'm not going to be able to get my CDL until multiple things get sorted out (it's personal and involves stuff I don't like to discuss)... Would delivery experience driving medium duty trucks be good because they involve the same thing as I'm going to do once I get my CDL... Wouldn't it be better to have experience in the field of employment even though it's a smaller vehicle?

Is this candid camera? No way this is real. Either that or we’re paying an overly amount of attention to his 14 year old. I feel he would be better off reading hot Rod magazines and writing in asking how to build a 1000 HP engine for his (his dad’s) Camaro.

If you, or anybody else here, find somebody's posts to be irritating you're more than welcome to use the IGNORE. A couple of key strokes and you won't see his posts.
As long as a member's posts don't break any of the TTR's rules they can post here.

I would highly doubt that I'm anything like what you described... My dad has been a truck driver for close to 30 years... I know what I'm going to do once I get my CDL... It'll take a while to get to the point of where I'll be driving commercially but I know that it'll happen...

I understand you don’t plan on getting a CDL for a minute. Still, this info could help others. With that said, I worked in beverage (Pepsi, similar to Coke) and currently work at Sysco. In regards to pay, Sysco will (more than likely) always be better. Why? Because they deliver food, they have a higher profit margin than soda. They always will.

With that said, depending on location, you’ll probably start out around 70k/ year at coke, with the potential to make up to 80k/ year if you work extra. There is, however, more opportunity to work your way to a different career in Coke. Though, they won’t always pay more.

At sysco, at least at my location, they start you off at 85k/ year. Working extra days, you can make up to 110k/ year. Sysco doesn’t have the career advancement coke does, but, with every year you stay at the company, you essentially earn more. There are guys who have been here for 30+ years, work from 3 am - 9/10 am, and get paid 150k/ year. They don’t even work extra days.

    Hope that helps!!

PS. If you can, delete the “blah” comment in the thread. I didn’t want to write all this, just for it to be deleted for not having an account. Thanks!
