    2000 vnl 770 n14 and autoshift 10 spd

started having issues on last trip with the alternator that was rebuilt in November- my voltage is pulsating up and down from 7-8V to over 16 volts. at idle its barely charging 12 volts. the battery protection system alarms after a couple minutes, shutting down accessories in the cab- including driving lights and marker lights. the batt light on the dash is blinking at the same rate. at 1300--1400 RPM- (driving speed under load) the alt is pulsating from 10 volts apx- up to 15 volts. continually. the (extra volt meter we installed pulsates at a rate of every .50 to .75 seconds.??
The driving lights get bright and dim. I also had the odometer have some issues:biggrin_25510:, and the DID display still not working- :biggrin_25510:I sent the dash assembly in for repairs and was told that the main circuit board is non repairable :biggrin_25510:. no specific reason.

coming back on a load- using the jakes on a 6% downgrade- when the engine speed hit 1600 RPM- the alternator volt gage was showing 16+ volts- then I had a STOP!! alarm tale tell light come on. I slowed down more- and kept the engine rpms under the 1600 the rest of the way. only 36 miles to home. truck ran fine and shifted fine. Made it home. =o)

Today we go out to start the truck to deliver the load- trans service light is on-at the shift tower. dash indicator shows "N" truck does the normal clicking noises to verify trans is in neutral and ready before starting the engine. after we started the truck... truck would not shift into any gear. shut the truck off, reset computers, now the truck wont start at all.. I have the following codes. help is appreciated. we are at a loss at what to look for now. None of the fuses are blown at the battery box. all terminals are very clean.

    130-231-2 SID and 130-161-11

funny thing is I posted a code book for the older Volvo trucks- and I cant seem to locate the 2nd code..??? 1st one is related to data link - which I had a problem and codes with back in November....

we are looking to replace the alternator, with NEW One. I ordered a new dash center circuit board. I'm still missing that short wire that was on the original alternator that has some sort of diodes in it from the "I" terminal on the alternator. since that time- nothing but electrical problems....:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25512:
