I live in a very rural area. I told my wife to call the sheriff's department and tell them that she's either going home, or to the next town, whichever is closest if it's dark and there's no traffic on the road.
When I was a kid, there was actually a vehicle with a light bar pulling cars over and attacking women. My dad and his friend got my mom to drive around at night with them laying in the bed of our truck. They never did get stopped, and I don't know for sure if the cops ever caught the guy doing it.

Kind of a no-win for the cops though. Park on one side of the tracks and they're too close if something kicks off. Park behind the tracks and a train comes the suspect gets away.

What I meant was if they parked opposite side of the tracks and a train came through before she was detained then the cops would have been forced to either stay in cover with the cop car or cross the tracks and have no cover.RJM1953, Another Canadian driver and TexasRiverRat Thank this. -

There’s no way to sugarcoat this in any shape or form. As far as that police department goes, their a s s is grass!!
As well as the body cam footage showing the train hitting the squad car the audio from the body cam footage also records the train whistle blowing as the train approaches the crossing!
They’re are going to be crucified in court!Another Canadian driver, nredfor88 and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
4th option: Place the suspect in the car that's not on the track.
5th option: Park one car on each side of the track so both sides are covered.
There is zero excuse for what they did and to say they didn't have a good option is total B.S.Another Canadian driver, nredfor88 and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
It will be settled out of court.
The police depts. and the towns that employ them will just ask how many zero's do you want on the check.
The larger question is what punishment will be doled out to the officers who were party to this circus.
They will settle and bury this as quickly as possible.
Many larger fish higher in the food chain are going to held accountable. Mayors, county commissioners etc.Another Canadian driver, drvrtech77 and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
99% of the time I agree with you Bruce, but not this time.
A 10 year old knows not to park on the tracks ever, for any reason.
I don't care if this was some hard core criminal with 1000 felonies on their record, much less an innocent woman.
You still need to use 1 brain cell if making a stop, and he used 0.
That dumb jerk should have gone for another donut, and left her the hell alone.
Ruining her life because he is a selfish prick with no brain, is not excusable in any way.
I hope that prick fries.Another Canadian driver, drvrtech77 and nredfor88 Thank this.
