So I was handed a Freightliner Columbia with no manual and have no clue how to turn the dashboard lights on. Have played with every button and still nothing. Not sure of the year but early 2010's would be a good guess

Maybe you should take a look through your registration and insurance papers and learn about your truck a little. " what kind of a motor is it" idk I think it's green. Lol

From what I remember in my Columbia it had a knob that turned the lighting up and down as far as brightness goes. You might have a blown fuse if no dash light is on. One fuse panel is on the passanger side and one is right next to you on the driver side next to the seat. Take a look through the fuses.

Thanks Still overwhelmed by being out by myself these last few days. Common sense seems to have gone out the window.

Hahhahah. You're good it takes sometime especially if you've never had experience with that sort of thing. Update us if you find the issue

2005 Columbia: there is a 'slide' switch; it is down above my right knee next to the mirror heat switch.

My guess is with most Columbia's at this point "assume broken".

But yeah, it's usually by your right knee, and the sliders seem to fail before other types of switches. (I think there's a stepped rocker with +&- on it in later models)

If your slider is going you probably won't have fine adjustment. Just run it up and down a few times as this seems to scrape some of the crud off the contacts. Play with it every few weeks, because sliders seem to fail more if they're left alone. (Dirt gets in them)

I would suggest that any other problems like this you go to the internet. What's in the drivers handbook can be found there.
