Columbia jet sound

    My buddy had a 2007 Columbia Detroit engine when he takes off his truck sounds like a jet what is it that gives it that sound I never heared truck make that sound other then Detroit.... Is it the turbo?

    He probably has a leak in his Charge Air Cooler or a hole in his hoses connected to his Turbo.

    But a lot of columbias make that sound

    They made the sound on starting up and sometimes on starting out, it was something to do with the variable geometry turbo.

    The DD engines don't have that and don't make the sound. Cascadias with Series 60 did the same thing sound wise.

    Only 14L series 60's from 2004-2009 made that sound. Mine drones a jet sound all day, and it'll rise and drop with boost pressure.

    Yes it's the turbo. A very restrictive POS variable vane garrett turbo. Junk.

    Either the turbo or the CAC hoses... those would be the first two places I looked.
