Combat pay.

    Just had a friend tell (brag) that he garnered $5/mile on a van load for 600 miles. That’s fine, I’m happy for him.

    What got me was when he demands ‘combat pay’ from the broker (who probably laughs on mute) and gives him another $500.

    Combat pay. I’ve no idea where he got the term. Hazard pay is the term I think he was looking for.

    Made the mistake of actually speaking my mind on FB (rare).

    Not a veteran. Never been in battle. Would never confuse the term ‘combat’ with ‘delivering a load’

    Now fully disgusted with friend. Well - friends wife. Ugh.

    Well hell i think i have PTSD from hearing the rates some of these brokers give u, when u call on a load .

    Officially “Combat Pay” came in and went away after the Korean conflict. When it reappeared it came back in time for Vietnam Nam as “Hostile Fire Pay” or “Imminent Danger Pay”. We all just called it Combat Pay though. No one I know cares if a driver uses the term(s).

    I've done that a time or two. And upset many 'friends'.

    I've deleted FB and Twitter, and I've learned life will go on without it. ( I was always on FB)

    No - he’s not in the military. Dealing with a broker on a load - and came up with this ‘combat pay’ garbage , because of the corona panic.
