I know direct deposit takes awhile to set up for payroll purposes. Does Swift start you out with the Comdata card in the meantime? Going to orientation in beautiful uptown Laredo next week and I was wondering what to do. Has anyone recently set up direct deposit and, if so, how long did it take to start receiving your pay in your bank account?
Thanks,
Frank

By default your money goes on the Comdata card. When I set my dd up it was one pay cycle then it switched, so it was pretty quick.

Yeah, same thing for me. You also have the option of splitting your money up in several accounts by percentage, or specific amount which is a nice feature.

Direct deposit takes only about a week. You can count on one more pay cycle AFTER you set up direct deposit before it starts. But no more than one check.

Thanks for the info, guys. I appreciate it.

does that start while with the trainer or only after you go solo?..I was also trying to figure out how to get money home to the wife and was hoping direct deposit was available.

You can set it up while with your mentor. For those of you that choose comdata remember the fee @ most of the truckstop ATM's are $3.95 per transaction. Best if you do it, take as much as you need the first time for the week.
You can also write a comcheck when your mentor fuels for free. Takes about a week for DD. You can set a certain percentage to your wife and the rest on Comdata if you choose while on the truckBigBusMan Thanks this. -
There was no delay in my money going into my acct. I made sure it was a week before payday though -
If you already have a checking account, direct deposit takes a couple minutes to set up at a Swift kiosk. Just need your driver # and account info that is on your check. How long that takes to go into effect I have no idea as I just did it Wed. after orientation. Haven't done anything except tiedown course to get paid for! Waiting for a nonsmoking flatbed mentor. Seems they are a novelty.
