Looking at getting into vehicle delivery. The company says they use Comdata cards for fuel/pay and expenses.
How do they work? Do they work well? Easy to use?
I dont know anything about them so anything you can tell me is appreciated.

They can put your pay check on there but you have to pay money to get at it. ATM withdrawal is 1.00, Balance Inquiry is .50, ATM decline is .50 etc...

Then when the company sends you to fuel up, they put the fuel money on the card.

I highly recommend getting your Direct Deposit set up if you have a bank account.

I'm an owner operator so keep that in mind. If you were a company driver it would be different. I call and ask how much the company currently owes me. I tell them how much of it I want now and they put it on my card. (some companies skip that step and just automatically put the money on the card as trips pay out) Once it's on the card I can swipe it at a fuel stop to pay for fuel and get the cash discount (avoiding the surcharge for paying with a credit card), I can register a comchek with the money (i think that costs $1 but it's nice sometimes, especially like for sending money to the wife back home in a hurry. She can tell me the number of a check she's got in front of her, then I register it for x-amount of dollars, then she can deposit/spend it immediately), I can use an ATM to withdraw cash (yes, there is a fee for that but it's nominal and you barely notice it if you are smart and take out money in large chunks rather than constantly taking out $20 here, $20 there, etc, or I can call and do an automatic direct-deposit into a checking account which costs nothing but will take one business day to be sent, then another day to post in your bank account. It's the best method but you have to plan on not actually having access to the money for two days. If you're a company driver, it's usually very similar except that when you swipe to pay for fuel, it's not deducting from your personal account. It's being billed directly to the company.
