elogs can hurt as much as they can help, it is up to the driver to determine if he is tired or not, not laws, not dispatchers, not DOT
what i am surprised is that you have talked about how bad a driver he was and how he must have been lucky all these yearsJoetro and AfterShock Thank this. -
Wow, this really hit a nerve here. I think it's because, deep down ANY driver, well most anyway, has that sick feeling in their gut, that this could have happened to any of us. It's something non-drivers will NEVER understand, especially the media. The fact that it happened to a celebrity, pushes it to the front burner, and shows, they can regulate the heck out of this industry, but we will never have 0 risk, as long as humans are in control. And I'm sorry, I don't think prayers and God have anything to do with this. Where was the love of God 3 seconds before this happened? Of course, I always ask that question in a disaster, and no one ever has an answer. I can assure you, they weren't playing pinochle in that party bus. We won't hear anything about that, I'm sure!
48Packard, ewill71, grabberblue12 and 6 others Thank this. -

at least 100 times a day, STUFF COULD HAPPEN, and you reflect on it and thank God it didnt
i was driving in the rain the other night, the glare from oncoming traffic actually blinded me, i looked left right, couldnt see any lines on the road
after about ten seconds, i was able to see, but for those seconds, it was frightening (this is with a new windshield and wipers) but it was just the way the light was hiting the window"semi" retired, Rocks and 48Packard Thank this. -

Statistically the industry is as safe as it can be, it just comes down to #### happens, same things with our form of Govt, Hospital practice, and every other thing that happens, we will never get to PERFECT which is what we are talking about. (why I am also not a Democrat, noble cause, just impossible)
Which is why I choose to count my blessings daily as they come because its easy to take them for granted.
Take a deep breath, but for the grace of God there go I......
Stay safe out there.AfterShock and Rocks Thank this. -

i disagree that following distance is the cause of most accidents
i would say it is a lack of understanding one's surroundings, either not seeing something, moving carelessly, moving too fast, moving too slow, not communicating with other drivers
i have driven NYC rush hour traffic in my car, at 70mph, bumper to bumper everyday and never had a problem
i have seen sunday morning drivers run into each other at 40mph
when drivers are alert and moving in unison, less stuff happens
when one is being the "rock(et) in the stream" its only a matter of time that things collide -
This is the reason I have a dash cam running whenever am driving
JAL1972 and Lux Prometheus Thank this.
