I guess they just don't recognize professional driving when they see it.

And you probably wouldn't, unless they happened to pass you. You've certainly witnessed other acts of sufficient negligence that would suggest that is not an unreasonable assertion.

At 60mph, the average tractor-trailer stops in less than 310'. Disc brakes knock that down to 200'... Cars stop at an average of 130'

    1 mile is 5280'

All the Walmart trks ive ever seen on our roads were safe courteous drivers.I have never had problems with any of them and I know Walmart is strict on the hiring. So I must say I was shocked a Walmart was involved.I was shocked dozing while driving may have been the leading cause of this.Alot of things goes thru ones mind when they see the photos and video.

Now the media is accusing the driver of not sleeping for 24 hours!

" I'm never really asleep, I am just resting my eyelids for 10 hours"

So what your saying is because some people can't find jobs because of so called moving jobs out the country is justifiable even if the driver has no sense on how to operate the truck...like I stated...I see it everyday there a plenty of truck drivers who shouldn't be allowed to drive...running up on car & even another big truck close enough to not even be able to fit a car in between is one example of the problems..

while there are plenty of us professionals out here, the bad apples stick out like sore thumbs...it's getting worse simply because a lot of these co's have no standards.

The number of fatal accidents in which a Walmart driver was at fault are few and far between. The last high profile fatal accident I remember that a Walmart driver was at fault for was October 10, 1993 on the Maine Turnpike. The parents of one of the deceased kids from the collision went on to start a group called Parents Against Tired Truckers. Because this collision in New Jersey involves a celebrity, the effects of this could be far reaching for not just Walmart drivers, but drivers in general. We all know how the government over reacts to these situations to appear they are doing something about the problem.

Most deffinately the government reacts. Its really sad how America perceives the industry. There are so many more good safe trk drivers then bad but no one ever sees that part. When the authorities dig deeper into this case, they will find a lot more things and take it way to another level demanding more heavier laws.
