Whether its Walmarts fault or not has yet to be answered. But the point is Walmart did not leave a safe following distance and anyone who drives like that needs to be off our roads, especially semis. A life could have been saved.I wonder just how close he was.Or was he just cruisen along maybe dozing and all of a sudden the traffic slowed down but walmart kept at 65 mph.

Walmart didn't leave enough space the driver is guilty of that.. But I totally agree with the following distance thing..

Food for thought for all drivers. Is your job worth it?

Could be but I also question the traffic ahead of him that slowed down according to a few articles I've read.Anybody in this profession needs to do these things while driving, keep a safe following distance, look far ahead , keep eyes moving at all times and look in your mirrors often.

A $300 dash cam is a small price to preserve ones freedom should a collision occur, regardless of whether I am driving the truck or my car.

Well, that's true, but it also indicates better driving habits. The more a driver can remain in cruise, the better their choices of velocity for conditions must be. The fewer brake applications, the better their choices of velocity for conditions must be.

They can deduce a lot more from a little data than the typical driver imagines, they have years if not decades of experience examining it, so they have lots of samples for comparison.

A driver can pretty easily outperform CC in the mileage department, they just tend mostly to not do it. They have no "technique", and they don't think of "driving" heavy equipment at high speeds as including managing momentum, so they waste fuel and brakes and they're a lot less safe than if they did.

I drove my rigs like they had no brakes, and I didn't rely on downshifting for deceleration. The carriers I drove for seemed to like the results of that.
