The crash was a tragic loss of life, but Americans are going to be looking hard at the HOS now. The problem is that people are going to form an opinion before anyone even knows the facts. It may be that he had 8 more hours left, who knows? There are a lot of factors that will be investigated and HOS is just one part. Here’s my take on it:

He said he was up for eighteen hours, that's two more than what's normal. This driver was right all the way.

You think it was a "scheme" by the Freemasons to con the public to beg the gov't to change the HOS again....What do you think there 54?.....:biggrin_25525:

This is so stupid. This is only news because it's Wal-Mart and a famous celebrity. If it were Swift and some Joe Shmo, no would give a crap.

Sometimes you can't of course, but I think all CCs will set down to 35 mph, and I've heard reports some go to 25, so usually you can. But you have to watch traffic as far ahead as you can see and react long before you have to react to avoid a collision.

The 4-wheeler habit of "keeping up with traffic" has to be discarded, and you have to become accustomed to letting traffic pull away instead of accelerating as they do. Usually you can tell if it's just going to slow again and you will "catch up" if you just maintain a steady speed.

You also have to discard, if you suffer from it, the 4-wheeler "somebody/everybody will get in front of me" syndrome.

I don't know from where you got the "relying on the CAS" to inject as a condition or requirement, I wouldn't rely on it either.

Right... because few know Joe, but millions if not tens of millions are familiar with Tracy. I don't know where you get the idea Walmart somehow adds to the notoriety.

I don't think the general public makes any such distinction, one truck seems to be the same as the next truck to them, just another vehicle they have to get in front of.
