Do you only have 18 months total in a truck?

If so That’s the real problem…. I’ve been parked almost 6 years but have like 40 years in a truck. Got a job without even trying and I’m 65…..

stay away from the mega carriers. You want to talk to a manager not a recruiter…….

I am sure it is part of it, but I was told this..."Unfortunately the extended time away from work does not meet our hiring criteria." I go only go by what was told to me. As I said I am willing to start over in a truck with a trainer and stay out for an extended time to meet any of their requirements. I will see about contacting a manager. Thanks again.

Submit the online apps first, then you can call and say, "I'm checking on my driving job application."

Nice going, you know you awoke a sleeping giant( it's midnight in China), Chinatown is our resident recruiter, and if you can't find a job from his suggestions, I'd stop right now. Taking the high road, your situation is not uncommon. Many retired drivers come back when faced with being alone, heck, may as well get paid for it.
Now, the bad news, in the couple years you've been out of the loop, you may find some changes. You don't need a stinkin' trainer, just a refresher, and may hurt your dignity some, but no need for a trainer, and most companies will know that. Also, I realize,,,now,, retirement can be tough. I myself retired 6 years ago, and while it's great to not have to work, I'm finding myself horribly bored, but trucking is certainly not an option for me. I'm only here to possibly help folks like you, that feel trucking is the last resort. T'aint so, and depending on financial needs, there's plenty of jobs for a handy guy, service mostly, and never leave town. I turned down 3 local jobs, because they wouldn't pay cash, but a dump truck, equipment operator, or the "old guy in the shop" guy, ( don't laugh, a guy in town repairs lawn mowers for $1/minute!) all kinds of jobs, and none near as lonely as trucking can be. Think this through, pal, being on the cusp of medical issues, I couldn't imagine not feeling well, and stuck in a truck. Hey,,enjoy your last years and not babysitting a load of diapers in Neb. in an orange truck.

Abilene Motor Express has hired drivers that have not driven in 20 years.

You definitely can come out of retirement and work. There was a guy in my orientation class who didn't drive for 4 years and they didn't make him take a refresher. I'll PM you here in a bit.
