All right folks - First update on my adventure to becoming a Prime Driver:
I went to the doctor today concerning my blood pressure. I had some recent events that placed me in the ER over the situation and saw my Primary Care doctor for a follow-up.
I have been placed on Blood Pressure medication to help me get it stabilized while I get my weight down.
Now - will I need to get a letter from my doctor before I come to Prime or can I just show the doctor who will be doing the DOT exam the original prescription packaging?
Also, another update - Studying hard for the exams so far. I've been working on the online quizzes, too. Strange enough, I took the quizzes before I started studying for the test and I got 75 to 88 percent correct on them. So, I think I got a good start on it!

Good start! Pass the permit tests n you'll be rolling
-
I just went through the PSD Orientation last week. Do everything possible to have your CDL permit in hand before you go, it WILL make a difference. I'm on the road now, 37 hours into the first phase.
-
Feels good to be on the road doesn't it?

I guess I'll answer this, everyone else seemed to blow right by this important question. Coming to Prime with a permit is great, but you really dont want to get sent home for not showing up with the REALLY important paperwork about your medical condition!
Prescription packaging will be no good. You need to call your recruiter and find out exactly what they need from your doctor before you come.
It will be a letter from your doctor, however Im not sure what that letter entails.
Even then, I would still have your Doctor's phone number on hand when you come to Prime in case Prime's Doc has any questions. -
Just sent an email to my recruiter. I'll expect she will wait until Tuesday to respond. She's been good about responding to email. As for the letter, I just got to know ahead of time before I come down there because I cannot afford whatsoever to sit around and wait 30 days if I get sent home because I failed the physical.

Dont worry yourself too much. You are being treated... as to the level of information they want from your doc, Im not sure, but the recruiter can point you in the right direction.

JUst as a followup on what U2 has said. I passed a kidney stone before I showed up for training. The doc of course had me on pain meds during it, Morphine and Vicadine. I made sure I had the emergency room records, a letter from my Doctor, and my doctors fax nbr and phone nbr. Needless to say, the DOT nurse, dismissed all my documentation, ordered new reports from the Emergency room, a new letter from my Doctor, and my medical records. What they got back from them was the EXACT same thing I brought, but since it was from them it was okay
. lol, MAKE sure you take any and all documentation, your doctors nbr and fax nbr. Also talk to your doctor BEFORE you leave and make them aware that they will be contacted via fax and they need to respond pronto. Once they DOT nurse sends faxes in the paperwork, followup with your docs office with a phome call to make sure they received it and are acting on it. BTW the DOT doc and crew are actually contracted I believe to Prime, and while are pretty cool, do not take any short cuts. Good luck, and make sure you followup with your recruiter on any and all concerns before you go.
MikeyB. Thanks this. -
HWY, Yes, they ordered new ones direct from the source. And yes, if you'd known that you *might* have saved yourself some aggro running around getting all that. But look at it this way. Your stuff matched the stuff they got from the ER, etc. Do you feel like a little kid that someone had to check on, possibly. HOWEVER, you did have ample time to change those documents you had in your hand. Not saying you did or would, but some have tried. Everything matched, so their trust meter went up a little bit. IF you hadn't had the documents, you would have been on hold until they could be obtained.MikeyB. Thanks this.
