If your driving and enjoying what you do, who cares if you drive for SWIFT, JB, CRST does not matter. one compnay or another does not make you better than someone else, if you think it does then you already know where your head is stuck.

I totally agree with outward facing cameras but driver facing cameras don't help or benefit drivers at all.
snowbird_89, mathematrucker, BillyBobFrank and 3 others Thank this. -
That had been the policy as long as I worked there. If you were a brand new driver, you could cover it after your 90 days was up if you had no incidents. Mine got covered on day 91 and stayed that way until I left. When they switched to Samsara, I fixed the gap under the camera by relocating the pre pass.

Driver facing cameras feels creepier than spending alone time with that one uncle as a kid.

Unlike an inward facing camera, an outward facing one installed by the company at least has the potential to benefit the driver in certain situations.
I was involved in an 18-wheeler pileup in Tehachapi in February last year because Kern County failed to properly maintain its freeway in cold temperatures. Because everything happened so fast, my memory thought I slid into the reefer trailer in front of me. However, as our Samsara outward camera showed, what actually happened was the reefer tractor got hit so hard by a car hauler barreling past me on my right, its trailer was suddenly sent rightward into my tractor's left front corner. In other words, the first domino was the car hauler slamming into the right rear corner of the reefer tractor (at what must have been 30-40 mph), not me hitting the reefer trailer.
The Samsara also recorded my speed at only 7 mph shortly before impact. Our safety guy was convinced I would have stopped before hitting the reefer trailer---if only the car hauler hadn't shown up. The Samsara also showed the car hauler's trailer just barely squeezed by the right front corner of my tractor, before eventually coming to a stop well into my (the left) lane. Unlike the reefer, I was lucky it was going so fast---it didn't have enough time to hit my tractor!
My tractor was obviously still roadworthy, but that reefer tractor was totaled. Fortunately our accident only had one injury that I am aware of, and it was not major (someone in the bunk of the reefer tractor claimed to have a shoulder injury, so the CHP called for medical assistance).
Four 18-wheelers were involved in our accident, and an 18-wheeler immediately behind me was jackknifed in a separate accident involving at least two 18-wheelers.
Zero accountability...I bet the road maintenance director doesn't even bother to say oops to their self.Knucklehead Thanks this. -
