Courts have said otherwise. Had a guy break into mine. I tried to charge him with B and E of a dwelling. Judge gave him 4th degree Vehicle B and E

And that is why this thread is here.

There are drivers who won't tolerate it. So we update and use this information to determine who we'll choose to work for.

You're using one judge's interpretation of the law to apply to every possible scenario out there.

    http://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/...es+Standards+For+Workplace+Video+Surveillance

In Hernandez vs Hillsides, Inc. the California Supreme Court ruled the following:

"The Court concluded that the employer had intruded into an area where the plaintiffs had a reasonable expectation of privacy, but that the facts of this case prevented this intrusion from rising to the level of an actionable privacy claim."

In other words, the company dodged a bullet.

    However, the court also stated:

"While the Court ultimately decided in the employer's favor, this decision was based on a fact-intensive analysis and a unique set of facts. Employers with less compelling reasons for covert video surveillance, and less careful methods of conducting the surveillance, may face different outcomes."

That last statement is the kicker. When a driver is in sleeper birth, it can be argued the employer has "less compelling reasons for covert video surveillance" as described in post #472.

So, I believe these cases in the future will be judged on a case by case basis. And what you experienced shouldn't be applied across the board.

NALCO - they have a very strict absolutely ridiculous point system. For example, if u yawn behind the wheel u get so many points or take so many points (something like that)
To a write-up or firing depending how many points u get. I've talked to 3 different drivers at 3 different NALCO facilities and they've all confirmed this. Disturbing I know..
    WEL - inside facing cams
ARG (food grade company) - inside facing "Event Recorders" as they like to call them. Lol.

Please people for the love of God do not work for companies that have in cab facing cams it's a breech of your privacy and a scare tactic to keep everyone in line it has little to nothing to do with legal ramifications. Clearly these companies do not trust their drivers (which says a lot about the company...It sheds a negative lite)
For the love of God u are a driver u guys can go pretty much anywhere leave these companies and let it have a lasting negative impact on them. They are not worthy of good, safe, trustworthy, respectful drivers as they clearly don't trust their own because they have in cab facing cameras. Just needed to call these companies out because it's not right. Till next time folks, stay safe out their

    Pure KGBism.

    company is the KGB
    driver is a USSR citizen.

Company will spy on you, watch you, record you, micromanage the #### out of you, nag at you for every little thing, gripe about your idle %, ##### about your fuel mileage, and find anything they can to write you up on.

Sorry, but that's no way to drive at all. That adds stress to a driver and we have enough to worry about on the roads, driving conditions, weather, traffic, road construction and our favorite local Barney Fife's without adding in driver facing cameras and annoying beeping #### to distract us when we venture outside a lane, or some jackwagon in a 4-wheeler comes over right in front of us and sets off the lane babysitter.

FedEx Ground's camera system also sets off audible alarms for lane departures and tailgating. Annoying as hell, especially the lane departure warning...every workzone, every place any temporary pavement marking ever existed, every off ramp etc. I have a feeling they are going to start counting them.

The cab card for our cameras claim live viewing is not possible. The company safety guy makes the same claim. FedEx "supposedly" has no access to the cameras, only the owner/safety guy of whichever carrier you work for....FedEx ground is all owner OP BTW. I don't buy it though in terms of no live viewing.

Whether or not cameras become an industry-wide issue isn't clear, but I'm willing to bet that at some point, the Wingman and Vorad systems will be.

Eventually every company is probably going to have some form of collision mitigation system installed on at least their company tractors.

I actually like the wingman. They're actually handy if I'm following another truck who is slower than me. Gives me an idea of how much time I have before I need to get one lane over. Can use that along with the amount of traffic to gauge all that. That was one toy I miss. Never did go cruise control so I never worried about sudden stops or stupid ####.

And unlike the camera, it doesn't invade your privacy. I'm sure there's some perverted creep in a dispatch office somewhere who loves spying on married couple team drivers.
