Yes it is and now I've gone through it and looked at all the companies in NC and going to scan other states as well for companies that service this area.

and was glad to see that you actually took the time to talk face to face with a driver in his truck. What a concept for anyone getting into trucking, spend a few hours at a truckstop talking face to face with drivers can help your decision and give you a look at their equipment as well. keep up the good work.

Making the decision to take your career in a totally different direction is a major thing. I'm not only having to look at the financial aspects of the decision, but also the family and lifestyle changes that it will bring as well.
I have found a lot of very useful info on this site and there have been many people who have taken the time to help me and give me advice. I'm very blessed and grateful for them all!
Thanks again!

no biggie tho. You will work in extreme heat (I loaded yesterday in 122 degrees- ugh... but I still gave it 100%) and freezing cold. If you go flatbed YOU WILL quickly learn that you take PRIDE in your work because it is demanding. As for the "black hat" comment about Maverick- I have met several-was even trained by one- THEY are not interested in "snitching"- in fact, some of them feel like nobody wants to talk with them or hang out with them because they have acheived the status. They seem like great guys to me, try talking to them!
ANy time that is "burned up" is really due to the nature of some of the places that you might load at- steel mills for example- where the "motivation" to work expediently is lacking in some cases, but that is no fault of Maverick- nor any other flatbed carrier that loads there for that matter. Sounds to me like flatbedding was not a good fit.
The EOBR "Leash" will be everywhere soon- what then??
Adapt and overcome. If you possess the ability to plan your day well, EOBR is really not a problem. Just an excuse. -
Somebody has done his homework. Those companies you mentioned looked pretty good.

Thank you Todd for the info you've provided on your search. I too have been hanging at my local TA talking with drivers and doing as much research as I can. I am hoping to meet a Boyd Brothers driver soon. I am in Nashville and slated to start school Sept 4th. I too have time on my hands and am looking to make a good company choice. EPES appears to be a good company. I wish TTC Nashville was on the recognized schools. I am thinking of Pre-Hiring with Boyd this week. Keep up the good work!
