Same boat here! I live in Reno, Nevada. I'm on Step 5. I found a company that almost hired me, but didn't want to take the responsibility of the S.A.P. bunch of bs. Anyone Someone Please Help!!! If you know of a company that is SAP friendly Id Appreciate it. I have 11 months experience behind the wheel.

    Reaching out for some help.

I have roughly 5 years of trucking experience and got out of it shortly after the birth of my son. Started smoking weed and got to be a very heavy smoker for a number of years and quit once I decided to get into trucking again but I didn't give myself enough time to get clean before going to a trucking company in 2021 (quit smoking at the beginning of August and went to the company at the end of September). I pissed positive and they put me through a SAP. I passed the return to duty in October and two of the follow up drug screens in December and February and ended up failing the third random test in April (for a second SAP strike) because I had switched to CBD vape pens that apparently had enough trace THC to test positive as I was self-medicating for anxiety and depression.

It's been a little over a year since the second strike and I picked up smoking weed again the same day I found out I was fired and then became a welder. I can't continue welding because it severely triggers migraines (they will last more than a month) so now I am looking to get back into trucking. I live in Michigan and I have yet to designate a SAP provider and start the SAP process again because I am waiting to get clean (stopped smoking around the beginning of June this year) and I have to save up money to be able to pay for the program.

My question is are there any trucking companies that will hire with recent SAP violations? All of the ones that I have reached out to so far have told me they want at least 5 years since the time of the violation, which was in April of 2022 and I don't really want to wait until 2027 to get back into trucking. As soon as I am showing clean on home tests I will start the SAP process again.

    Thank you for replies.

Sweet Express might. Last I read about the company, they have a waiting list for SAP new hires.

Might get a job on the Great Lakes as a deck hand or other functions on a merchant ship or cruise ship. Probably have to pee clean though.
Not sure the ships would even be connected to the trucking drug policies or know about any failures.

I was with Sweet Express when I had the violations. Not sure if they would take me back though I will say they were a fantastic company for the 8 months I was there. I suppose I'll keep them in mind and still have a few contacts there, I can reach out and see if I'd be eligible for rehire.
