you would think 20 plus yrs of safe driving would be enough to not need a babysitter, sadly its not about safety anymore, thats an illusion created to control brain dead idiots.

Hahahahaha! This is a joke, right? The way truckers drove 25 years ago is the reason why we have ELDs today. Adapt or start greeting folks at Walmart. Those are your only two options man.

Don’t take that personally. I have no idea who you are or what your history is. The ELD whining is getting so incredibly annoying though. If someone says “I spilled coffee on myself today,” the very next response is always “####ing ELDs are ruining this industry!” It’s ridiculous

You buying a brand new truck with a factory warranty? Or an old beater that’s gonna need a $20k in-frame in a year or two? Maybe something in between that you’re gonna just cross your fingers and hope for the best with?

I’d be really interested to hear what study you get your facts from.

This is what I've learned as an O/O with Landstar.
    1. Don't be stupid, act stupid, or do stupid stuff.
    2. Honor all contracts.
    3. Obey the law.
    4. Be smart with your money.
    5. Keep your equipment in above-average working condition.
    6. Live within your means.
    7. Ask a lot of questions.
    8. Take care of your stuff.
    9. Be independent.
    10. Be realistic.
    11. Educate yourself.
    12. Be HELPFUL, THANKFUL, KIND, and COURTEOUS

-That being said if you are struggling, help is available.
-Being a successful O/O really only works out for a select few.
-Some people are jerks...so just get over it.
-Get a dash cam. I recommend the small Garmin 45.
-Keep your truck orderly, clear and clean...especially the dash. Other than the obvious non-compliance, this is one of the key things officers look for when deciding to do a conduct an inspection. Those cameras along the road and at weigh stations look into your truck.

I'm looking at reinstating my authority and becoming a trusted carrier, but I have to do more homework to make sure the money is there. It would be an easier decision if I lived in a good freight lane. Those dead-head miles are killers to my bottom line.

    86scotty and JR28262 Thank this.
