1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Whichever you decide, good luck. All companies are tight on freight, it seems swift is actually hurting the most right now. I get that from talking to Swift drivers out here in the west, they are all saying 750-1400 miles a week, thats it. Now the ones that have gotten on with a dedicated account are doing somewhat better, but still not peaking out, not even close.

The best advice I could give would be get to a truckstop closeby and talk directly to drivers from the company you are thinking about. For me, Conway would be my best guess from those you listed a pre-hire for. Keep in mind that pre-hire does not guarantee you a job, just a spot in orientation, and even then you could get back on the second day and be told to pack it in. I have been reading those words on this site for some time now.

As I said, do some checking, and get in the door if the door is still open. Good Luck, Be Safe.

Just wanted to throw my two cents in... I am a recent grad from VU in Indiana, and since graduating I have been on the hunt also. I have applied and followed up on a few of the companies everyone has listed and I was told either not hiring or need OTR experience from- Prime, Central Refridgerated, and Knight.. Best of Luck to everyone out there!

Do a search here on tanker carriers . How did you do in school ? At least one carrier ( I think Superior Carriers ) will hire students that finished at the top of their class .

Central will only hire you if you go through their school. My husband has just upgraded from school w/ them about 2 weeks ago now. Since getting his own truck he has been getting good miles. 1st week almost 2000 miles. Last week only about 800 but he was home for 5 days this week only 3 days in he is looking at close to 2500 or better. So far everyone there has been completely honest w/ him. If you work from them buy a GPS w/ out question. Weekend and night dispatch must love to laugh at driver's when they send them the wrong way. Other than that they seem to be a fair and honest starter company. Just my 2 cents worth. Take it as you like!

Hold it between the ditches boys!!!!!!!!!!!!! :biggrin_25526:

since when is 2k to 2500 miles a week good miles?? 4k miles a week is decent

And Chad, just what do you think this jobs like? I don't care what the companies advertise the reality of the matter is you aren't going to be home. And if you do go home you won't make money. this industry sucks these days. it wil destroy your family the way these pos companies expect you to run
