I just got Back on the road after an 8 year break from driving (won't go into details) and had a difficult time finding a company to hire me. After a 2 week search and a lot of (Sorry we cant use you) I was hired by Schneider.
I know I'm going to have to work my way back up to being a "Desired Driver" again & I resigned myself to going on the road with a "Trainer" who has less experience than I do. My advice is to go to the "Big Companies" and bite your tongue.
Sometimes we have to bite the bullet and do whats required to re-establish ourselves.

If you still have your CDL give FFE a call.. They will provide training at no cost for a 6 month commitment. They provide housing and feed you dinner every day. FFE is the only company that provides a 7 day refresher and guarantees a job after your 6 week training if you pass the road test after training.

Ok not being mean here but , you as the ride Long might need to stay home and let him go to get a job by himself then he can swing thru and pick you up...

Assuming that there isn't a reason you can't drive a truck. If you are willing to be in the truck at all time. Why not get your CDL and team and be an unstoppable pair? -
I don't get that... recent OTR experience, why? Don't drivers start out in OTR so they can get the experience to go local? Well, the driver should have enough experience from driving local for several years. It's all the same to me, OTR is just farther to travel in between local deliveries. Just don't put it that way like OTR is a highly specialized practice (which would give the impression of being a new driver), and act the part of an experienced driver, you should have plenty of opportunities.
