The more often you change companies the more it restricts you ability to work for the best companies. The important thing is to know what you need and then work at a company that matches those needs. You can change companies every 3 weeks and still find SOME company that will hire you, but that company may treat you very badly, or under-pay, or have junk trucks, etc.
Companies that let you take a month off work?

I would like to ground this topic back to the real world. @Chinatown made the best reply in my opinion. If you want to work off and on it's better to do temp work. This is what is most likely to happen in the real world. Yes, if you ask for extended time off and are adamant about taking the time almost all carriers will let you take the time off and if you are otherwise OK to drive will take you back later on. What is going to happen though in most situations is your truck will be assigned to another driver and when you come back you will get ole Betsy at the end of the spare truck line. Now someone mentioned oil field work and I am sure if you look close enough you might find some seasonal work. However, with the average carrier they are so hard up for drivers right now they have no real choice but to let you have the time off. Just remember, you may not like what you come back to. Don't get me wrong. When my mother started to go downhill I had to take a while off work to care for her. I understand that sometimes life happens and all of us have to make adjustments because of it. I am just pointing out though that time has a way of changing situations. Do this with BOTH EYES WIDE OPEN!

You’re too far from Kllm yards, but FFE has a yard in Denver. Our hometime, vacation, and other policies should be pretty similar. At kllm, it’s up to 2 weeks of hometime (per 7 weeks out), 2 weeks of vacation after 2yrs, and personal leaves of absences up to 60 days. As far as I’m aware hometime and vacation can be combined.
idk how ploa works, but I was still an employee during my 2 month fmla. If you have experience and bring this up front, something could probably be worked out (get it in writing). I don’t see why ploa couldn’t be combined with hometime to get you your 1month off every 6 months; or you could do 2 weeks every 2 mos.
7 days is max with trk at kllm, so that’s what I do. I have gotten extra days before and I’ve been lobbying for 2 weeks. @Jenn72 gets like 2 weeks off with same trk at FFE iirc.Prstone50 Thanks this. -
I will look at that ! Thank you that could work just fine
