look for a retired driver who is bored, SLC has some I guess.
Offer him a plane ticket, $200.00 for expenses (taxi or uber and meals if there ends up to be waiting time) and negotiate a decent wage to bring it home plus something for cleanup if necessary.
Also be ready to have some repairs done to make it roadworthy because some drivers are crap and will leave a mess or have not told you that they broke your truck.

In September when my truck was down I flew out to Tacoma and picked up a truck a friend had purchased. He covered the flight, hotel rooms, and gave me $1500 for my time.

You guys can’t just hire a driver to go get it, you have to actually HIRE the driver with the same crap you need to do with any driver you hire.

get a service to do it or get it yourself.

Anyone with operating authority can do it. The truck -is- the cargo and would be listed on a hand written BOL, and you'd just need to make sure your cargo insurance limit is high enough to cover a total loss. Since this is a recovery, the truck already has plates, ifta, etc from the company that owns it. I've moved a couple trailers for others, and expect the process would be about the same.
