You are not going to be home while OTR. It does not work that way.
What you want apparently is local shift work. And yes you will be running 14 or more hours daily. Your biggest challenge will be sleep deprivation. Sometimes its better to have a sleeper on the back of your tractor.
Companies that offer home daily training?

Thanks guys. I have looked into some food services, I’ll look more into LTL Saia is right by my area but they require more experience. I was hoping to find a smaller company since I don’t have much experience with a 53 ft, and if I fail a big company’s driving orientation I don’t want it to go on my record. I’ve heard smaller companies don’t report to record like DAC.

Many ltl companies offer cdl training. And many offer a short version for someone like you with less than a year. Fedex old dominion xpo offer classes. Fill out an application and give them a call.
AlexRF10 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -

Yeah I don't understand why people think local means 14 hrs a day and sleep deprivation. We have 81 routes out of our terminal. Not one has a scheduled 14 hour day. Circumstances may have you on 14 a day here or there, and Christmas time you will definitely get some, but not scheduled.
