:biggrin_25514: Greetings to all, I need to go back to work & need refresher training, to get a Class A CDL again - don't have time for another 160 hr training course, did that at Sage Corp. back in 1996. If you can suggest on the job training/companies, it is much appreciated... my last driving jobs were in 1997, OTR, private hauling & construction. I have no criminal BG, current DOT card and clean driving history. Currently in the Northwest, but can relocate. Was recently terminated from non-driving related employment. Thanks in advance.

Do you CURRENTLY have a CDL Class A??

If not, I fear you will be starting from square one.

No CDL, but I will get the CDL learners permit, no sweat.... I already passed the online practice test... Looks like some companies may frown on my termination from my last employer, even though it was not a commercial driving job... so, that is the only drawback I can see for now... I do not for see any problem picking up where I left off and I believe it will all come back to me pretty quick, once I get back in a truck. Thanks to Skip & Bigarm for the reply...

Your starting over, too many years out of the truck and no CDL = 160 hr min course and heck the better companies that train......., want more hrs or only hire from PTDI schools. There are some training companies that will hire and give a refresher, but only if you maintained the CDL and have 1 year of driving in the most recent three year period. Insurance

    Skip1965 Thanks this.

A LOT has changed in just the past couple years, let alone since 1997. Once you really start getting into it I bet you feel like it is a whole new animal..

Your driving skills is not what you will have to worry about, that will come back quickly. The rules changes??... Ohhh... Myyy... Goooooddnesss

That is why you will want to go to school; and things change constantly.

What if you got terminated from training and NOT given a reason and it goes down on your DAC Report as "Terminated from/during training and NOT re-hirable"?
