Lol He knows a few words and phrases but "walk the plank" and "where is the rum" are not in his vocabulary.

Years ago at the Petro in Fargo I parked next to an old owner op with a McCall? parrot named Chauncey,
He told me how the bird would chew up his low air flag and he had to keep spare flags with him. I think he drove a Marmon.
A bird would be a great conversation starter.

Since you've noted you're single that kinda' changes things.
I can only speak for myself from the position of an O/O, I've never been a company driver.
I personally think the money/wages aren't worth the sacrifices you have to make. I could name the drawbacks one by one but that would take forever.

But KLLee, you're still doing it after 35 years you ask. Like you, trucking was something I always wanted to do. When I started the money was decent and the government pretty much left you alone, now they've got their nose in every facet of the industry. I'm still in it because it's the only thing I know and at 65 I'm pretty much unemployable.
If you're young enough to try trucking and recover go for it. Read this forum extensively (with a grain of salt) to help in your research. BOL

Thank you Sir for the advice.

I'm 30 years old and I'm a civilian who works for the Air Force. I have worked on fighter jets for 12 years. And man does that destroy your body. I finally have the opportunity, (no debt) to branch off and do something else. Cause it's easy to get into a similar boat you are in. Many people I know have worked aircraft for 30 years and have no idea on what else to do.

OK, you've got some time, don't burn your bridges at that aircraft job as you may want to come back to it.
I quit a job at Ma Bell to go trucking and could've retired TWICE by now.
