1 Year of OTR Experience with Covenant Transport but its been 7 years ago so Im pretty much a student driver with a CDL

    Squeaky Clean MVR

Live between Atlanta and Chattanooga so a terminal in either of those would be amazing since my wife can pick me up and bring me home for home time.

Prefer company paid training and I don't mind signing a year contract. I intend to stick with whatever job I get because I know the #1 mistake of new drivers is not toughing it out and job hopping.

Would like to solo OTR and be home every 3 weeks or so for a couple days to spend with my wife and 2 kids.

I just dont know where to look! US Xpress is a no go cause they only want experienced drivers. There is no way in hell I will go to covenant after all the horror stories I have heard here. I sent in an application to Transport America since they have a terminal in Atlanta and there isn't a lot of bad things being said. I just worry cause one of the questions on their application is "Do you have 6 months of OTR experience"

In the 7 years since have you been driving local or not driving at all. That could make a difference. Alot of companies want the recent 6months to 1 year of recent experience. Recent to some is the last 3 or even 5 years but that is rare in itself. I would try looking in to a smaller company and maybe going out with trainer for a month or so.

I agree with what carramrod says and would like to add that also with the economy the way it is finding a company to train is going to be hard, because they want experienced drivers right now. You might try Roehl Transport they have a terminal in Atlanta. Good luck hope everything works out for you.
