Dude any one struggling to make it today has major problems that got nothing to do with trucking market rates. 2019 rates and volume was bad only when comparing it to 18 which was the best market in history.

Do you know what business savvy means? Rhetorical question because if you did you wouldn't have made this comment.

Good used truck under 35k? While I am sure there have been a few good trucks sold at that price, 35k is generally the cost of a beater or fixer-upper. If the truck sales market degrades to the point where decent trucks start selling regularly for 35k, then you know that the freight market is seriously tanking, and chasing lots of o/o's back to company driving.

Read the first post in this thread, aka op. Then read my post. Then consider the definition of the word sarcasm.

35k buys you a truck ready to work. Sure its old, but old doesn't mean junk. Heck I'd sell mine at 35k and rebuild the engine for that price with new injectors, heads, and a turbo.

A beater or fix it upper is in the 7500 to 10k range.

Facts. I got a 05 fld with 75k on a gold rebuild for 35k. Old Werner truck with one owner for the past 10 years. Wasn't easy to find.

Are you trying to be funny or you are a funny guy that doesn’t have a clue about this business.
Look , as a driver you get pay whatever your boss pays you until he decide to fired you or give you an extra penny , therefore you have no idea how your boss run his business.
As an owners operator ( real one ) in order for us to maintain our equipment in excellent condition and to take time off when we want it ( family is more important ) we must haul loads that pay more than ok money . In some cases , we may not make a lots of money , but the difference is we don’t have an a- hole telling us when , where , how to do our job . We , also decide how much money we can make in one day , in one week, in one month or in one year ....... and we don’t have to drive more , we must drive smart . Because we value our freedom . Can you do that ?? I did not think so !!!

Nope, wont haul cheap, twice deadheaded from loads paying 1.35 going within 40 miles of my house.
Furthest DH was 450 miles, but made 3 on the load before.
I haul alot of hazmat chemicals, cause most van guys dont have tanker nor experiance with hazardous liquids
