To take any time off in those days cost a great deal of money.

Let's go home! Take a few days off.

And lose a thousand dollars this week? no thanks.

It was all about the dollar honey, everything else was either a liability or BS. I remember one time a screech owl got into our stuff at a local cabot resturant and instead of having the manager involve the law and get her arrested, I toss her 40 dollars and told her to get lost. OR SHE will be arrested.

She got lost. This was fall of 98. I think in age groups she is passed on by now. My Spouse did not understand the 40. I told her it's a small price to get rid of such a problem that night for us. Next time I'll simply let the manager make the arrest happen. It wont be the first or last time. I could always make that 40 back no problem.

Isn't there still a 6/70 HOS option? I'm not sure who uses that or why.

First, I absolutely HATE running recap, especially if I have an early morning appointment and I have to shut down early when I'm wide awake then leave at an ungodly hour when I recap hours then drive all night to make the delivery on-time. That example alone shows you that rule was written by bureaucrats who have never driven a truck.

That being said, if you don't have an appointment, maybe you're not even delivering the next day, you're going somewhere FCFS, and you're not going to have enough time to pick something up after delivery, you can sleep in a little and take it easy. You have 14 hours to drive your 6, 7, or 8 hours you're recapping because you had a short day eight days ago.

Or, if you're recapping eight hours two days in a row, drive six and "bank" the remaining two hours for a ten hour day the next day. That's about the only advantage of recapping, but it all depends on when the load has to be there.

I absolutely hate the 34 why can’t you just run 11 hours every day and be done with it but you got to sit in some truckstop for 34 hours when you could be home or headed home who came up with this crap anyway ??

Sounded more like a lot lizard.
    A prostitute.

So I guess 'whistle blower' could be another term for it.

I like the 34 since I can catch up on my sleep debt. But my company loves to call me and ask if I can take recap loads instead.

My friend always says he's drunk on his 34 so he can say no to recap loads.
