Thanks. Are all the trucks governed at 62? Did you get good miles with Prime @crocky?

All company trucks are governed at 62 on cruse and 58 on the pedal. The 58 on the pedal is the real killer because IMO it pushes you to stay on cruse control when it might not be safe to use cruse control. Lease trucks are 65/65.

As for miles, no I wasnt getting enough miles, which is why I swapped to lease. Ive talked to other company guys who say they get good miles, but I wasnt seeing it.

Fair enough. How’s the lease going? That’s another option I’m bouncing around in my head but like anything else, some talk great and others not so much.

This is my 4th week on lease. 1st two weeks were great ($4600 before taxes in my pocket after all other expenses in two weeks)

The 3rd week I got put in the hole, because sales gave me a load that was booked to another carrier and then my next load had big issues at the reciever which caused that load to not get put on last weeks pay. (This caused me to be $1,2k in the hole not even including missed pay to myself)

This week I'll be back out of the hole and should have a profit of around $1,2k however due to the issues last week I estimate I lost $2k income.

Overall, its much better money than company, but the sales team cost me money, by not setting appointments and giving me a load that didn't exist.

Assuming, those issues are few and far between, then I think its much better to be lease assuming you run hard and smart. If the issues end up being common place, then I'll be rethinking my stay.

I suspect or at least hope it was bad luck, but only time will tell. I'll say that there is certainly potential to make good money, but there are always variables.

Great. Leasing definitely interests me a lot. Do you own truck once lease is fulfilled?

Also, what do you think you’re averaging for miles each week?

No, Im on the straight up lease so Im renting the truck for $1k and some change. The good side is that's 100% tax deductible but the dow side is its expensive and its not mine.

My intent, is to save, save, save through the winter then switch to buying a truck in the spring.

On lease side, I dont want a lot of miles. Im paying the fuel bill, so I want as few miles as possible with the most income. Last week I did 2,6k miles this week will be about 1,8k to 2k.

So on company side I might want a 1,6k mile load, but on lease, Id rather get loads under 1k miles.

For company, I say an average of 2,2-2,5k would be realistic, but you might get more or less some weeks.

@crocky is Prime pretty good at keeping you moving or do you do a lot of sitting and waiting?
