I'm a new comer to the industry with 1 year straight truck experience and a clean CVOR, drivers abstract and criminal record. I've found a company that wants to hire and train me to haul non hazmat tankers( the product is pitch). What if their insurance carrier won't insure me. Any comments. Can I self insure with a broker and split the difference with my employer until the his insurer is satisfied with my driving ability. Has anybody carried this kind of insurance, wouldn't it be similar to an owner operator except I operate and insure the vehicle and cargo and carry liability coverage and the company is the owner of the tractor and trailer. Sounds weird though doesn't it.
