Does Swift/Knight merger allow me to leave my lease early?

I do not know if anyone has heard. But swift and knight are merging with knight taking the reigns of the companies. Now I'm sure that'll mean rebranding and the death of swift transportation. I am currently in a owner operator lease situation and was wondering if anyone has been through a similar situation. Does this give me the leverage to leave the lease early since it won't technically be for the same company I originally started out with?

If you want to leave the lease, leave.

As for a merger, all contracts remain intact with the new company.

My contract is up at the end of the year anyway. So I'm not too worried. It would just be nice to be able to get out or the contract sooner.

The combined business would own 23,000 truck-tractors and have 28,000 employees. The companies will maintain their separate branded operations but will work under a holding company structure that adds new corporate controls.

When you say owner operator lease situation and then say contract is up at a certain time...does that translate to you somehow beholden to the company for some reason?
If you own the truck you should be able to leave when you want.
