That's why companies are getting choosey. Those types of jobs aren't readily available. If there are available, it won't be many and they will choose what they deem the "perfect camdidate."

Then you're in the Atlanta area. I'm of the opinion that it's harder to get those types of gigs in the South than any other region of the country. Your competition is fierce.

Company policy violation does not reflect the probable cost to that carrier due to a burned employee though any employer considering your application will question what policy and it may influence their decision.

If OP hasn't been asked; chances are his app is not in contention due to a lot of applications with no baggage.

No PPE while attending to an acid hose to disconnect IS very serious but how well were you trained?

It is ok at a distance to open up and let in some air, I had a few guys who stood under the shower if it was cold water in hot weather...

I experienced a handful of drivers burnt due to not being completely in their PPE, some simply in the wrong pace as they were getting into their PPE on a windy day.

None were terminated though some did move on to other aspects of trucking after treatment, not terminated but decided other pastures were greener, skin grafts might do that.

Matlack had monthly safety posters for the driver's room; many with gruesome pictures of receivers who were not wearing PPE and mentioning that the PPE equipped driver wasn't hurt.

PPE serves ONE purpose, to get you out of a bad situation.

Doesn't make one a superman to dive in and close valves, etc. just get out to safety.

Can't do that if you left it in the truck.

Recently new cdl school grads have been hired by Old Dominion. They don't live near Atlanta though.
LTL are hiring, but Atlanta is slow or saturated.

The ltl market is tight now. All feel they are too fat and hiring has been clamped down. Anything on your dac is going to make it extremely tough to get hired.

and God help the terminal manager with last month's poster if Trip or Bonacci happened to visit.

Besides coach...Rosie Greer...wonder how much those safety 'toons' cost time 80 odd terminals

Humans is da' craziest peoples, hindsight is the best site. Must be incredibly frustrating being in healthcare, and see how stupid people really can be. Take bicycle injuries, for example. I read, there's like a 43% increase in bicycle injuries, both e-bike and regular, people just won't wear a helmet. Like seatbelts or cigarettes, "won't happen to me", and I was just as bad. While I always wore a helmet on a motorcycle, I figured, heck, I'm not some extreme biker, just faster than a walk, but still, blacked out, it's a long ways to fall. I was lucky, no helmet, but ignorance was bliss. Usually, all it takes is one close call, that we somehow ignore before that.
