the problem is plain and simple.
keep your vehicle/s up to snuff. don't worry about it. if they can't keep mudflaps on. they probably shouldn't be owning a truck.
but i could also say that about log haulers. i don't think i've seen one truck yet that actually had ONE tire with some tread.
it must not payu to haul logs. cuz them trucks are in worse shape then even mexico.
Company put an O/O out of service.

Compliance is in the eyes of the beholder..There is NO SUCH THING as 100% compliance..It is all a big ####### scam..
It is open to the perception and interpretations....Once you ''please'' one DOT COP,another will not be pleased....
THE GAME IS RIGGED BOYS,SO KEEP ''TRYING '' TO BE PERFECCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTCasual Trucker Thanks this. -
Don't you guys ''get it''..??
Look up every carrier ''score''...
Show me 100%.....Not happening because it does not exsist...
DOT WILL FIND SOMETHING......
THEY WANT ALL THE MONEY THEY CAN GET FROM YOU GUYS...
ALL IN THE NAME OF ''SAFETY'' and ''COMPLIANCE''..In which does not exsist.. -
Well, as I do OS/OW superloads 90% of the time I get level one DOT inspections every few days. I've had hundreds, been OOS less than a handful of times. Do I think its unfair or illegal that other O/O's have to comply with the same standards of maintenance that I do?
NOPE! -
barnmonkey Thanks this.
-
Its rigged and they want the MONEY...
Go Figure... -
There are some basics that all carriers need to comply. Mudflaps and tires are simple to check. I can't believe the guy with the mudflap issue left rather than replace a couple of flaps. Some of the owner operator carriers do require more frequent inspections than an annual. It can be a good way to catch problems before the dot finds them.

Sounds like these O/O need a different job cause they're obviously not making enough money to replace their tires. Even a Chinese set of drives doesn't cost that much. You get what you pay for but at least they'll pass DOT.
-
I usually pay for an xtra dot inspection ever 3 to 6 months nother set of eyeballs never hurts......could never run tires that close though i just get nervous and heck you could get a set of 4 mich caps for under a grand if you can,t even pull that off you got bigger problems
-
Agreed with everyone here.
Freightlinerbob - it's the money greed that kills them. It's amazing - from what I've observed and seen, they make well over 2 grand a week after diesel yet refuse to maintain their truck. At the safety meeting, these were the same o/o's who were flashing their check stubs and bragging about it. Very sad!
