Is a company required to provide a driver with copies of his/her daily logs recorded by the electronic log device like Xata or Qualcom? I've searched for days on the FMCSA & USDOT web sites but can't find any information on it. My company won't give me copies of some logs that I know are false!

If you need 'em for tax or any other purpose, keep a paper log in addition to the electronic log....just make sure they match. -
Are companies required to provide drivers with copies of electronicly recorded logs if requested?

The person in charge of these records came up with logs that are false in an attempt to get me fired! Good enough reason for me to have those records? I know they were falsified! There has got to be some way for me to get a copy! They reprimanded me for these "false logs!" I told them they were false & since I told them I'd talk to the FMCSA or who ever they've Beemer kissing my butt but they've been harassing me, descriminating against me & really made my life he'll for the past 18 or more months! That's "why" I want copies!

You could get a lawyer to get them for you.
At the risk of sounding completely stupid. I think you have raised an excellent question. Especially since we as drivers may be required to provide these logs as proof to the IRS when it comes to documenting our Per Diem claims.
We all know, you're guilty until you can prove otherwise. When it comes to the IRS. -
Electronic log systems generally have a utility to FAX the last 8 days worth of records to a DOT officer. You can use that to fax the same records to yourself on a weekly basis.
rookietrucker Thanks this. -
That's what I thought, ironpony! They started using the Xata system over a year ago and recently started using them for logs also. They don't give us drivers access to anything except the units in the trucks which is very limited. Once you end a "trip" all the information is gone and you're even logged off duty when you're still actually on duty. A man who was a dispatcher, "the worse I've ever known" is not head of transportation and is the only one who has total access to the system! When a unit isn't working properly the driver uses paper, then calls this guy the next day to give himt the log information for the prior day which is then corrected in the Xata system. He then is supposed to print out all the revised logs, put them in the drivers locker and the driver signes them which is supposed to make them legal! Well I never signed any but they showed me at least a weeks worth of logs that had me stopping on average about every 5 minuets and they repremanded me for it. I told them I was going to get the FMCSA on it and now this guy is kissing my butt big time! I don't like to cause trouble but if I don't do something about it he'll only stop for a while then start again!

BTW this is a manufacturing company who owns their own trucks.

Driver, it has been at least 18 months ago. Whatever the logs say forget about it. It is the past, you can't change it!

NO it hasn't been 18 months ago! It was may 2010! They've been messing with me for 18 months! FMCSA website says they have to keep all records of shipping including all driver info for 3 years.
