It can be a weight off the o/o when the broker is slow to pay but he is paid on fri. for the load by the co. he is leased on to?

If it is the company trailer they the would be entitled to part of the detention. It is their equipment being delayed as well. Detention collected from the customer pays for trying up the whole shebang, truck, trailer and driver.

I'm going to also be a little mean ... it is a pet peeve of mine about something like this, if it isn't in the contract, then they can screw you any way they want but that said .... my mean part is this, they don't take a percentage of the pay from each load, they give you a share of it from their load payment ... and you are not a driver, you are an owner.

So I am sorry I had to put it that way but I just sat through a session with an owner who is crying about the money they lost and he said the same thing - the company keeps part of HIS load and took part of the accessorial fees he worked for.

I hear guys gripe about what the company charges them to lease on all the time, you have to ask yourself if you are making out well ot the end of the day. some companies has better paying freight than others, by far sometimes. I would rather pay them more of a percentage and come out with more at the end of the day, month , what ever.
I am on sort of an informal lease, the reason is I want to run the extra freight and not lease directly on to the company with the freight. They will not put on any more outside contractors, and I doubt seriously if they had I would have got as good of rates. I actually have no clue what my boss actually charges, or even what percentage she charges, what I do know is that she pays me well, very well in fact, more than anybody I know pulling the same or even any other freight, my insurance is cheaper through her company, than what I get on my own, I have never used it, but I have her fuel card to use if I ever needed it, what is not to like.

The down side, is if you consider it a down side, is I only haul the extra freight, when things slow, I don't work, but that is ok too. lol

That's why I settled into my niche freight as a driver. None of that waiting around.

Drop, hook go. Empty reload out in 40 minutes on way back to shipper.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.
