If the freight gets delivered on time and the work gets done, nobody has any right to complain as far as I’m concerned.Lennythedriver Thanks this. -
There is no other viable explanation that a company can come up with other than “they are ripping you off”. It is cold, brutal in your face, we don’t care what you think, we know you know, we’re going to rip you off anyways”. You can spin it anyway you want, as management, but that’s what it is. So when a company does stuff like this and they advertise that they’re paying, say $.50 per mile, you’re actually probably getting about $.44 per mile.
I understand the formula now that they use, ZIP Code the ZIP Code and all that. I understand that I’m going to drive a little over on most loads and there’s no way around that. But when it’s like for example a 500 mile load and you’re driving 50 miles or more extra, that’s time to say something. When it’s a 1200 mile load and you’re driving 120 miles extra, that’s when it’s time to say something.
That’s when it’s time to go to the human resources department and say you need to change your advertising because you’re not paying $.50 per mile you were actually paying me about $.44-$.45 a mile.Trucker61016, NavigatorWife and TokyoJoe Thank this. -
Find a company that pays hourly or pays the hub miles off the truck. Anything other than that you will be getting shorted on miles.
The company job I had paid hub miles. We wrote down our beginning and ending odometer and turned it in with our paperwork weekly. We were expected to run the most reasonable route, but if there was a road closure or something all we had to do was call the office and let them know what we were doing and why.Trucker61016, okiedokie, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -

If I bring a skill that I’m good at to the table and I do my part, I expect the company that writes my paycheck to also do their part. That being ethical, honest and straightforward.
it’s really not too much to ask!NavigatorWife and TokyoJoe Thank this. -

He's not going to learn. Having a "pair" and having common sense. Don't always go hand in hand. Hub miles are standard. They're normally short. But can be over. He's at a micromanaging mega. He has 3 options. Suck it up and drive their route. Be smart and look for another company. Or do what it sounds like he's planning. Which will result in him getting fired. Just cuz he's got a "pair."
