Posted this request in the o/o section but thought this section maybe someone could help as well so here goes my situation...................
about 5 years ago I went through CDL training through Werner Enterprises at around the 4 week test out to first seat driver I got a call that Mom had cancer & about 6 months to live so it was more important to me to be at home - after she passed it was just routine to stay in the job I was doing (restaraunt manager) but now I really have that itch to be a driver, always have. Now im having trouble with something else i have no family or friends but I do have a dog small boston terrior that I cant part with ( really only thing i have left) but anyway allmost all employers are wanting me to go back through the schooling which is fine but then out with a trainer for 4-8 weeks @ 30.00 -$50.00 a day to board my dog, i cant do that. Are there ANY OWNER OPERATOR TRAINERS or company trainers out there that would be willing to be my trainer & let my dog on the truck. I want to go over the road so bad that I am even willing to give up my training pay except for 100.00 a week to live off of, & give the rest to my trainer for there help & for any inconveince. Have gotten a call from Prime they are gonna put out a message to trainers that might be willing but told me to not be to hopeful (but hey they are the first company that is at least making an effort) Only down side is that i would have to lease a truck out of training but from everything i read in here that sounds like a stupid thing to do but what other choices does someone like me have. Anyone who has any info that may be helpful :biggrin_25523:

First off, companies charge big $$$ for pet deposits, and a good company forbids a trainer from having a pet while training. That would include yours.

Second, an O/O that likes pets, will have one already. Can you state without a doubt that the 2 will get along?

So what you are actually looking for, is an O/O that is willing to allow your pet, but doesn't have one. You now have 3 strikes against you.

It ain't gonna happen. Prime gave you the correct answer.

5 years out of the biz, with no practical experience. You will need to return to school for a refresher. Many schools provide a deep discount for simple refreshers.

I know of NO company that will hire you without some additional training. Although you might find the local guy who owns a couple of trucks, that is desperate for a driver, willing to give you a job.

You have less than a years experience. You are now required (by Federal Law) to take additional company training, regarding whistle blower laws and a couple of other items...just to get on the truck.

Ya know I already know all of this, im taking a chance the Lord will bess me with the oppurtunities & if i cant find someone to do this then obviously its not what the Lord wants. Just so everyone knows I already know this is a slim chance I already know about the schooling issues & everything else that was stated above. But hey its a shot

And also from what I here in this site about trainers not getting paid owner operators getting a paycheck in the negative ya know there might be someone out there willing to take it on for the extra $200.00 a week or so from me for there help. I plan to board my dog through my training period I have 1500.00 set aside for that, and almost all companies say that once your out with your trainer just ask them if they care if you bring your dog onboard. So who knows but its a shot:biggrin_2556:
