Some give you a day for every 7 days out then some a day and a half.

Regardless of what the recruiter says, CR England is forced team. I was talking to someone at Swift orientation who, after completing his training, was told to either team or "wait". He quit. He was hired as national solo, but after training, there were suddenly NO solo positions available, and none opening in the foreseeable future.
Avoid CRE like the plague.
Give Swift a call. I've been through their Academy, and the training was excellent. Passed my test on the first try.pattyj Thanks this. -
Also you will never get home with england unless you live in slc. When I worked there for only 6 months I got home once. Every I did was to get the slc drivers home to hell with me.

No company pays you until you get your CDL. I was told that it was illegal for a trucking company to hire you to drive a vehicle you can't legally drive.
Swift Academy is three weeks long. I was at the Richmond, VA Academy and recommend it highly.
Swift's Mentoring program is next; they currently pay hourly for all on-duty time. This phase lasts until you get 240 hours behind the wheel, and takes 4-6 weeks in most cases.
After mentoring, you go through Upgrade to Solo, which includes a couple of evaluations (driving and written), and a couple days of classes. (Varies depending on which terminal you are at.) This is where I am; I finish up tomorrow.
The pay isn't that great, but I'm just here for the experience. -
CR England...
Had a 30 hour bus ride to Hammond, Indiana. Met two drivers who were going to orientation at England. We had a kid go nuts and confront the bus driver (kid was yelling something about the bus driver being lost) and the England guys and I got him off the bus. Decent guys. We get to the Greydog bus station in Hammond. The bus station is closed. Winter time. Cold outside. The shuttle driver from the motel I was staying at is waiting to pick me up. I say goodbye to the England drivers.
ShuttleDriver: those two guys over there, are they going to work for CR England?
Six: Yes.
Shuttle Driver: I feel sorry for them. -
