I mean you no disrepect when I ask you this but with your size are you going to be able to climb on top of a tanker to do the checks we have to do? We are on top of those tanks all the time.

Yes our sleepers are smaller than most. Not sure why. It might be a bit cramped for you if you are used to a large sleeper.

Well you certainly won't have to tarp any loads pulling tankers! Superior does make you go do a physical agility test where you have to do all these things like carry some weights so many feet, walk on a balance beam to simulate being up on top of a tanker, squatting under a ladder, pushing and pulling so many pounds of force, stair steps for so many minutes. All this while they are measuring your heart rate. Your heart rate can't exceed a certain bpm based on age.

    Just a heads up.

There's a lot to look for when selecting a company. Sure you want to look at pay but also look if the pay goes up with good performance. Is there overtime, or any other programs to make more? How many holidays are there and what happens if you work them. What about retirement. Does the company have a good match program set-up and do they have more than one? What about education? Do they pay some part of the school and allow time off? There's more to look for but each driver has his or her own requirements and you try to find the best that fits you. If you can not then you work towards those types of companies. You sure do not want to be working right next to a driver right out of school doing the same job for the same pay. Keep your record clean and work up.

If you are in Atlanta you will train locally out of Morrow GA for a week or two then go otr with a trainer if needed or an entry level driver. That is what I liked about them having a terminal here. I got to go home every night when I was training local. You will have to go to Greer SC for a week of safety and hazmat training once you finish up local and otr training and your trainer signs off on you saying you are a keeper. You get paid for your week in Greer and the also pay for the hotel stay. Staff will buy lunch and dinner a few times but the other times will be on you. Hotel has a frig so I just bought some groceries for the stay.
