This is a new one for me...
Riddle me this.
If I'm doing a 3 compartment load that I'm pumping off, and the customer doesn't have a way of telling me their tank level, what is a good way to tell when I am empty on each compartment. I can't climb on top of the tank...prohibited.
TIA.

Are you using a pump?
-
Yes.
I don't see how the suspension gauge is going to do me much good either...
One load is compartment 1/3, the other is 2. -
Does your pump change tone when it runs dry or cavitates?
RockinChair and slim shady Thank this. -
Hope you have a way to vent the tank since you cant climb on top. I would probably use a blow down fitting and check it there after walking the hoses a few times once they go slack.
slim shady Thanks this. -
Sometimes when the plant is noisy and I can't use gauges I have to put a screwdriver on a hose clamp and rest my ear on it. Like a redneck stethoscope. I can hear flow real good though. Operator at the Valero refinery in Three Rivers TX showed me that little trick.
RockinChair and scythe08 Thank this. -
How are you going to vent it?
Do you have vapor recovery if so that'll work.
Listen for a chanve in the sound of the pump.
My pump will bounce my hoses a little bit when mt. -

Unless your tank has a vapor recovery line, no need to go on top.
Once you start off loading feel how heavy the hose is. When it's empty it's lighter. -
Hold your hand over the VR opening. When the compartment goes empty, you'll feel a reduction in the amount of air being pulled into the trailer.
