Greetings everyone, I am finally heading out over the road! It's a small family owned operation with 12 trucks. They do all their logs in the traditional paper form. But they suggested I purchase Eclipse or one of the other logbook applications to make the whole process easier to maintain. Then I can just keep the paper logs as a back up in case I run into technical issues. Here's my question. I want to mount a computer in the truck on the dash somewhere. If you've ever seen a police car, you'll probably understand what I'm talking about. Is there a mounting kit like that for trucks? I'd prefer a non invasive type mount -- one I don't have to drill or make any serious modifications to the truck itself. Yes, I know there's room in the back, but I'd like to have it up front. Any ideas?

Stay away from those cheap tubular mounts that are sold on ebay and ffe suggested. The Jotto is expensive but this is what police cars use. The Ebay junk will crack from the vibrations in your truck. You want a real HD item.

We have those ram mounts in our trucks for peoplenet and trust me they suck big time, not to mention that they also take up all your space, and the Jotto mount looks to take up even more space. In any event, they are over $300 vs. just $45. Give me a break. Hell, the price alone defeats the purpose. I'd never pay $300 for a computer mount. Hell I wouldn't pay even over $50 for a computer mount. -
ram-mount is the best... the no drill is best it mounts to the side of the air ride part of the passenger seat... it hold the laptop so well if you rolled the truck it would stay in a ram-mount..... it only sticks out 3in from the side of the seat and you can move it any were you want from 4in from the drivers seat (so you can use it) to sitting over the passengers legs so they can use it and all just by turning 2 knobs..
do you realy want to put your 1000 laptop in a CHEAP A-- JUNK....
you get what you pay for -
flood: You are so right!! Plus if you are a company driver with a dedicate truck the ram uses existing bolt holes. That pipe concoction requires you to make holes in the floor. If I were the woner of a truck and you installed that crap you would be looking for a job !

Anyone have any experience with this one? I was considering it until I found the Autoexec Roadmaster Truck.

I just put this AutoExec Roadmaster Truck in my truck over the holidays. Haven't used it yet, but I like the way it looks installed, how easy it is to move in and out of the truck, the storage bins, and having a writing surface.
I guess I'll see if it's really what I want once I'm back out on the road: AutoExec Roadmaster TruckLast edited: Jan 2, 2013

The site looks like it was designed by a high school freshmen doing their first website for "computer lab" and they got a "C-" for the project.
Hopefully the product is much better than the site.
