Which of Con-way Freight's locations are union?

I know the teamsters have tried multiple times to get into Con-way Freight, but have been voted down each time.

They pay union scale or above in most places, so not sure why they'd vote in a union anywhere.

Yeah, I forgot about those idiots in Laredo!

Watch what happens to that location! I bet they shut it down, run that freight out of the San Antonio location for a year and then reopen it under another name.

This XPO acquisition gives them an easy mechanism to do just that and that's what I'd do if I were the XPO CEO. He's no idiot, he built United Rentals.

I'm not sure If I would call them Idiots... From my understanding a lot more of this is around the corner with Conway and Fed-Ex... 156 miles one way from San Antonio to Laredo... Not sure how much the cost savings to hire more drivers to cover that would be if they planned on closing the Laredo yard... Even if they closed it and did what you said and then after a year re-opened they would be in court as quick as they did that...

He can build all he wants... Teamsters aren't the biggest idiots either...

I know your a Conway man, but having worked for both myself I cant say the company has to many employees who are willing to fight tooth and nail for them... A couple of years ago freight did similar cuts to what YRC has done...

    Just a little thinking

I am not against unions or the purpose they serve, but I can't by any means understand how Con-way employees would benefit from joining. The wages, benefits, and structure of the jobs practically mirror that of a typical union type job. The only difference I could see is that employees are now paying union dues, whereas before they didn't have to. Go figure...

    Unions have outlived their usefulness.

And if you're already getting union wages, why vote in a union? So that you can pay dues to them so the union bosses can get richer?

As for the inconvenience and costs of moving the Laredo operations to San Antonio for awhile, sure there would be some significant costs involved. However, if it helped to keep the union out of their 400+ locations, it would be money well spent.

And the shutdown could be apart of the assimilation of Con-way Freight into XPO.

"We took a look at our business and determined that having both a Truckload and a Freight facility just a block away from each other just wasn't cost effective. And when looking at our business we found that most of the freight out of Laredo was destined for locations outside of our normal Freight delivery area and we determined that it made more sense to have our Truckload division handle that Freight along with the small amount of local Freight we have in that area."

Or something like that. Then a year later, you reevaluate, discover you were wrong and reestablish LTL service out of Laredo under the XPO name.

    A Pension????

A couple of years ago Conway stopped doing what to the 401k?

How long have you been with Con-way?

Most people know Con-way freight will slit your throat and throw you under a set as quick as they hired you... No need for that discussion...

A Union is protection... And when the contract comes around and Conway claims they don't have the money for a raise but yet the numbers they show in every magazine or website show how many millions they have made that quarter are contradictory to the claim they have made the Union will fight that...

A simple employee with no backbone who questions that gets ran over by Conway...

This is simple stuff to see and look up... What company did Con-way make there name through? Look it up fella...
