This may be the wrong forum for this question, not sure pretty new here and seems mostly TL info. Anywho seems like a good company, lots of dock work and BS while on flex board but....Anyone work there or have any comments good or bad is surely welcome...thx in advance

What exactly is your question? You thinking about coming aboard, or are you already onboard with Conway?

Lot of dock work and an unpredictable schedule for a while but you'll make some money. You may get lucky and fall into a pretty regular routine right off the bat too. It has it's ups and downs but all in all it's a good LTL job.

So if you run line-haul then you get paid so much per mile, which consist of pulling doubles to said location, swap out with another driver from another terminal then back to your terminal. Then you work the dock which consist of using a forklift to situate the cargo in the trailer so that the city driver can come in in the morning and pull his stops off in sequence? And this is how ltl works in a nutshell? So you are paid mileage and hourly?

Yeah - somewhat but on a much bigger scale. I work the dock at the destination for a few hours to bring back our freight and rarely work the dock at my home terminal. I put my trailers to doors when I get back and the city drivers unload them and load their trailers in sequence. I'm paid mileage for driving and hourly for everything else like dock, drop/hook, and fueling.

    sandal0906 Thanks this.

I generally agree with what you're saying. My main goal is to make money so all the BS doesn't bother me as much as it bothers most - once you get some seniority and hit top scale there are very few driving jobs where you can make more money than this one.

JakeBrake, I was wondering if you knew if Conway checks DAC report. I already went in for an interview and have a physical and drug test this week once I am off the road with my current company. I recently had an accident at a Wal-Mart DC (forgot my tandems were slid to the rear and doors were open) and I knocked off one of my trlr doors. I was told it will go on my record as a preventable minor accident. Should I worry about this? Hopefully Conway Freight has already pulled my DAC and ok'd it, but if not, is this something to worry about. Don't know how picky they are on accidents.

Just make sure you tell them. One thing they don't tolerate is falsifying your application. I've been here three yrs and never work the dock. I come in about 0700-0800 and make a short local run or two. By then my trailer is ready and I run my route from about 1200-1900. Then I may run another drop and swap before getting off around 2030. That's usually how it goes right now while we are so busy.
