I am seriously considering Con-way for my first OTR driving job. At 58, I am not in the greatest physical condition, although I have begun working out to improve it. I am overweight, but my BP is good with my medication. If I were to be given a pre-hire to Con-way and go through orientation, what physical tests should I expect to have to pass? Schneider as an example has a video that demonstrates their testing. The toughest tests for me if going with Schneider would be stepping up and down a 12" stair for one minute, and having to squat under a 40" platform for a time to simulate getting under a trailer. I have tested myself on the stair step, and i am sucking wind big time after doing that, although I can complete it, so I am targeting that exercise in particular to improve upon. The squat test I should be okay on also with improved leg strength. Please let me know what I might face at Con-way so I can better prepare ahead of time. Thanks.

The stair test and squat test. Conway got em too. Walking with a basket with some lbs and pulling a rope

Start walking as much as you can everyday. You can do this and walking is the best thing to do to build up some wind. Don't drink anything but water for a while and you'll shed some pounds quick if you are faithful with the walking. I hired on at Conway taking BP meds and you can too. I actually lost weight on the road, but I walked whenever I got the chance.
