I just got off the phone with Suzi in recruiting and was told that I was scheduled for training in Jacksonville on the 23rd. What can I expect for the 5 days there? I have applied at alot of other companies but really had my heart set on Con-Way for a number of reasons, the biggest being that I live in Fl and they have a terminal here. How often do they get you home? How's their equipment? How do they treat their drivers? Is it set up with fleet managers? Please forgive me but these questions are coming from a driver that has driven the last 10 years for a small company and is now going to a big carrier due to the fact that the small company I've driven for has closed up shop. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks all.

You have to highlight to get home. So if you wanted home on the 14th for a Dr appt you highlight on the 7th. Sometimes you get home other times you don't. The fleet Managers are pretty good depends on who you get. They treat their drivers just like all the other big companies. You are just a number. Miles and pay not to good and it is not just the economy it has been that way since the merger like the month of Feb hubby brought home 960.00 for the month and no time off. Last month was better was 1100.00. this has been this way since the merger and not just for us it is for many other million milers there. He does not stop and play either. If you are a newbie though you will do better. Well hubby was laid over with a newbie was on a sat and the other driver was done as he had finished the week with a little over 300 miles. The health ins is horrid. They say 4000 out of pocket but it is not it is 4000 plus your deductable. Plus you have to call Cigna to fight to get anything paid. The Rx plan is not good they choose what meds you take. Heaven forbid if you get hurt and if you do get hurt then get home and say you got hurt at home. Just like Swift,Werner and England this is a training company nothing wrong with that. They do run the trucks to 500k.

ask them how long the wait is for a truck after you finish orientation. It was getting near 3 weeks.
