It is my understanding Conway has drivers specially for taking loads into Canada, although you can't ever believe what you hear at a terminal, everybody loves making stuff up and talk out of their you know what. But I'm sure they'd love you for having dual citizenship. I was in Joplin two weeks ago and the dispatcher was hurting pretty bad for drivers with passports, I'm not making that up.

Looking to go back to cfi after a 12 year absent. was wondering would it be a mistake or a good move.

Depends on where you are moving from. It's a good move from any of the other big companies for sure. But CFI now stands for Conway Freight Inside just so you know.

i'm thinking of leaving walmart. it's a good company and pays well but they got so much #### going on that the only thing they don't have is a video and microphone inside truck to check on you. they are just to big and more concerned about the company then they are about the drivers anymore. there insurance is terrible it went from 500 deductable and 2000 out of pocket to 2500 deductable and 10000 out of pocket and in the past 7 years doubled my premium. and does not cover what it use to. i think i'm ready to go back to basics.

Huh? This is the FIRST I have EVER heard any driver complain about driving for Wally-World.
I thought you were what we all aspired to become...someday.Last edited: Feb 18, 2012

Well the grass always looks greener on the other side. I would think wal-mart would be the better company personally, but I have never worked there. Just an outside looking in comparison. I mean basically, isn't all wal-mart drop and hook? I started working at Conway just after they bought CFI, and it has definitely changed since then. It went from a "feels like family" company to a "your just one little spoke in the wheel" company pretty fast. Still a great company to work for, but its like working at one of the "big" companies now.

it's not a bad company hauling general merchandise is drop and hook but hauling groceries is mostly live unload and then they got rid of most of the outside carriers that used to pickup or freight and drop it at a drop yard so we could just do a drop and hook. now we have to do most of the live loading on our back hauls which when finally loads goes back to one of our D.C. it's good money but money is not everything. i haul mostly groceries since i run out of one there grocery D.C. and do a lot of chicago. it use to be one of the top private fleets to work for but now a lot of drivers talk about it feeling like just another big company. we still only haul walmart freight. now with the new phone regulations for drivers they say that they can get your cell phone records to see if you were driving while you were talking on phone. and if they want to you could get fired.

I would gladly unload my trailers, given the right tools and if I was being paid hourly. But that's just me. Pay to me is of huge importance, and all we can count on here is mileage pay. I would rather be on the dock earning money then sitting in the truck earning nothing while the dockworkers are taking there time unloading my trailer. All the sitting around we have to do (unpaid) drives me insane...lol. I just don't see that happening to an actual wal-mart driver. Although I could be wrong.

we don't get paid hourly for unloading or loading unless it takes longer then 45 minutes. but most of the time we don't get any detention pay.we do get for payed for bumping dock. we get paid for a lot of things but the way the economy is you never know from one day to another if you will have a job. there always watching you, either safety man or store associate's or customers in and out of store all they need to do is drop a dime and your gone. i know other companies are the same way but the stress we are under makes my home time thinking if when i go back to work if i'm going to be called into office and being told to clean my truck out
