I have a friend that works for Conway Truckload and he was saying the miles are not good right now. He has been with Conway for quite sometime and this is the first time that the paycheck is hurting.

Wolfy, He was going home(bob tailing), He was told to take the truck to the Phoenix Freight Terminal and to call safety, he then was told to clean out his truck, He was in awe, He had been a good driver no issues even extended his time out to cover OOH drivers, Again they told him that he was fired for going thru a red light, He saw the car over a mile away(that did not go into a clear lane to proceed to move) that waited for him to approach him, then that driver got his truck number and called it into Truckload and he was immediately removed from working there.

My past 2 weeks I have had over 3000 miles...no shortage of miles. I run OTR. Sometimes you will have short weeks no matter where you go and where you end up. For example, I have heard recently of an abundance of trucks sitting in the northeast, and a major shortage of trucks on the southern border, so its all about where you are at that time. It all works out in the end, good weeks and bad weeks, most drivers wind up with good miles for the whole month.

To many drivers for the freight they have! You watch they will thin the heard again because they get a write off for all the "training and other things they do to add more drivers" They keep the ones that stay under the radar but if you are new get under that radar as fast as you can.

Ok, so they told him he was fired after he got to a terminal then, that makes more sence to me. But, there still has to be more to it then that. The company wouldnt just let you go....People still work here after getting into accidents all the time.

It is fine that you are blinded by the lights, I have never worked there nor would I ever work there, This a true story, He had nothing but good accolades for them and I had started to get my paperwork in order to go there, He had 0 (ZERO) Backing issues and so forth and nothing to report to anyone, But now he has a termination for "Violating Company Policy" I assume for running a red light seen by a person that couldn't anymore tell if he was under or past the light when it changed. Call it what you want to, He isn't there and I'm not going there.

This one too comes up alot.It typically involves thinning the drivers with longevity, cause we are paid more. This company spends a boat load of money in recruiting and training, I'd venture to guess more than they can write off.If they wanted to really thin the herd, they would cut the contractors first. That's always been the model. There are empty trucks, all that need payments to be made.Productivity numbers are affected I'd company trucks are idle, not so much if contractors are.

I don't know I just know that the accountants at a publicly held company have lot to do with what happens to the troops! I also know that this driver was just in Joplin conversing with his dispatcher or whatever they are called there and the conversation went to the guys with the points or issues and that the points don't matter when an accountant adds up what the driver has been doing revenue wise, I will admit this guy was a little slower then some, he is one that has to think about what his next move is going to be, he never had any issues as far as I am aware of there.

Only he knows this, I don't think so, knowing the lights location and where it is, I would say "No" But have you ever sat at a light looking up the street and seeing a vehicle that you think ran a light only to get closer and it gave you the mirage effect? I think this is what happened here.
