Frank if your driving one of the Slowstars get use to it. White smoke is all we ever see coming from them.

If you're in a prostar, it is probably a clogged dozer. It starts off doing it just at the beginning of a regen, but eventually does it for 20+ minutes straight.

With a clean/new dozer, dpf EGTs go from ~500 to 1050+ within a few seconds. With a clogged dozer, they slowly climb often hovering around 700 degrees which seems to be the temp that produces the most white smoke... Eventually the dozer may clog to the point it sticks open, constantly dripping fuel into the exhaust which will destroy the dpf.

White smoke is either water or unburned diesel btw, but with a prostar we'll assume the later -- especially if you're not losing coolant (which in a prostar points to egr cooler)

Monitoring a Scangauge will confirm this. You may also notice an extra boost of power -- a programming glitch gives you the full ~450hp horsepower during regen (Conway has these trucks neutered at 350hp).

I recommend getting it fixed at your earliest convenience -- road service will try and tell you it is normal but it will only get worse. Plus you can get a ticket for it.

PS: in general, & especially now that you're smoking, you should try to maintain 1400rpm while regenning.

I really appreciate the input! It started last night about 10 miles from where I shut down and has not done it at all today. I thought I might of had a valve sticking a tiny bit but with all the EPA crap its hard to tell any more. So, running fine so far today, fluids are still good. If it happenes again, we will give RS a call.
    thanks again!

Rock Springs Wyo Pilot tonight. Still headed to Portland... On recap... I get to finish up driving 6 hours a day... Plus side, truck is running well, no smoke and I got over 4400 miles last week. Down side, I have know idea what kind of mileage I'll get this week. Robbing Peter to pay Paul again! Maybe I can reset wed/thur and get a load to Miami on Fri? I'll keep dreaming!

I saw the aftermath of 2 bad wrecks today. 1st a swift truck got blown over near the NE/Wyo boader. I heard the driver got out ok. With 38k in the box, I could hardly tell the wind was blowing. 2nd a double tanker was off the road near Rawlings Wyo. from the look of the cab and chatter on the cb, the driver didn't make it. No one deserves that... Y'all be safe out there!

Stopped looking at wrecks from the medic days.

    #1 it reminds of work.

#2 last time I got snoopy at 2mph I spotted the not so fresh decapitated head. Dammmmmmuuuutttt.

Makes ya wanna pull on the side of the road and pour your coke and watch it fizzle.

On semi strike with shop assist.
Gonna screw off at freight yards eat out bobtail around town in my underwear and have poor clock management.

Might even check in with no shirt on with women in the building.

Pay increase stalling on my nerves. -.-
