First time I've heard a reputable account of this: http://www.conwaydrivers.com/conway/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=15973

Original complaint was a second-hand account from a driver stating she received a call from Con-way asking why she wasn't wearing her seat belt.

Whoa. In cab cameras pointing at the driver. All captured video sent to a third party. Not cool at all.

What's next, electrodes hooked up to a helmet for monitoring brainwaves while driving?

I suppose in a hundred years companies will just start buying humanoid robots to operate big trucks.

Their forum discusses the potential abuse for spying. Yeah, THAT would never happen in this day and age, right? :sarcasm:

Thanks for posting this. I've actually been seriously considering Con-way TL. This give me pause.

it's not a driver cam apparently. it's an entire cab cam. since it picked up the female in the PASSENGER seat.

Oh I think it's coming a lot sooner than that.
In probably a decade or two we'll be seeing trucks that drive autonomously, soon after robots loading and unloading.
Technology is changing at and expanding rate, look at the last 200 years compared to 1000 years before.
    100 years from now....who knows?

    1813 the latest thing!

FMCSA has about 200 trucks on the road right now with cameras watching evering thing the drivers are doing as part of a study, now what happens when they do studies? we get stuck with those driver cams in every truck in a couple years as a mandate, watching what we do. Oh and these drivers asked to be in the testing program also

Seems more and more companies are installing cameras. That just gives FMCSA more ammunition to work with.
